Logan City Liaison Update:

Landlord licensing:

Everyone that has ever had a terrible landlord, take notice. Make sure your landlord knows he/she needs to be licensed. The city is increasing its efforts to get all landlords licensed. It will benefit them and the renter by:

1. promoting public health, safety, and welfare (10 complaints since July--some on-site inspections. Lack of communication between landlords, property owners, and tenants)

2. ensuring rentals are legal and built to code at the time of establishment (31 cases since June, 57 this year of grandfathering (?))

3. providing contact information so problems will be resolved expeditiously.

4. providing consistency with licensing of other businesses (21 complaints of no business license.

They have had 1100 applications for licenses, and 670 of the applicants have been part of the Good Landlord class. Shortly there should be online availability for the ‘Good Landlord’ class. With all of the hard work the city is putting it by the end of the semester the vast majority of landlords should be licensed.

Zoo:

Don’t have plans this Saturday?

"Boo at the Zoo" will be on Saturday from 11-3. $6.00 for punch card. But there are free activities too.

Rain or shine, make sure to check it out. This is one of the last opportunities to check out our great zoo before the cold weather stars.

Booting:

They amended Title X Municipal Code. And now the maximum fee will now be consistent with state law. The maximum raise will be $5.00, making the booting cost $75 AT MAX! Private booting companies do not have to raise their price, but it can't go over $75. Thank Logan city for taking care of the –often- OUTRAGEOUS booting fines.

Remember:

The next City Council Meeting will be Oct. 19 at 5:30. Everyone is welcome! Come check out what our city is doing for you, and what you can do for the city!

This blog will be updated bi-monthly, so check back the first and third Thursdays of each month to see what's going on in Logan
